What international students should know about applying to KWU.
International Undergraduate Admissions Process
We welcome international students and student-athletes at Kansas Wesleyan University. Our student body has included men and women from up to 15 countries worldwide, including the United States.
Undergraduate Admissions Deadline:
Fall Semester: July 1st
Spring Semester: November 1st
You will be required to pay in full prior to the start of the semester. Please contact the Business office – (785) 827-5541 – to discuss the current deadline for payment.
Please note that international applicants who graduated from a US High School, or attended an accredited US College/University for more than one year, are not required to submit proof of English proficiency. However, all applicants are required to provide verification of financial support, along with official transcripts from previous institutions attended. Also, admission into Kansas Wesleyan University is based upon the regular admissions standards for First-time or Transfer students depending on the applicant’s classification of status.

Step 1: Complete an Application for Admission

Step 2: Provide Proof of Financial Resources
Upon completion of your application, you must provide verification of financial resources showing your ability to cover your KWU expenses. This proof demonstrates the ability to cover your KWU costs including tuition, fees, books and supplies, housing, travel, health insurance and emergency funds. KWU cannot consider your application until this documentation arrives. A certified bank letter showing available funds converted to US currency is acceptable, or provide bank statements for the previous three months prior to the term of enrollment.
Step 3: Submit your official evaluated transcripts to the Office of Admissions
All foreign high school/college transcripts must be evaluated by InCred or World Education Services (see below) in order to determine if you have met the First-Time Freshmen or Transfer grade point average required for admission. Transcript evaluations must be submitted to the Office of Admissions before the listed international admissions enrollment term deadline.
*Please note, that a basic evaluation with grade point average is required incoming freshman applicants, and a course by course evaluation is required for transfer applicants.

Step 4: Proof of English Proficiency (FRESHMEN)
International applicants who are coming from English-speaking countries are not required to submit the proofs outlined below, but do have to submit ACT and SAT scores as outlined further down in this statement. Those coming from non-English speaking countries must submit proof of proficiency.
All applicants are required to provide verification of financial support (see step two), along with official transcripts from previous U.S. institutions attended, before their admissions file can be reviewed for graduate admissions.
Duolingo – A minimum score of 95 is required for regular admission to the undergraduate program, and a score of 110 is required for admission to the MBA program.
To provide proof of English proficiency:
- Submit official TOEFL or IELTS scores if English is not the primary language in your country.
- Meet the required TOEFL/IELTS scores for admissions listed below:
- TOEFL Paper Based Score: 550
- TOEFL Internet Based Score: 61
- IELTS Score: 6
Note: TOEFL scores are only valid for 2 years from test date.
International Applicants coming from English speaking countries will be required to provide valid ACT or SAT scores, meeting the standards below.
- A minimum ACT composite score of 18 or SAT composite score (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing + Math): 960 are required for admissions acceptance.
For athletic eligibility, the ACT/SAT test results must come from official test centers on the national testing dates. Please visit American College Test website at: www.actstudent.org/ or the Student Achievement Test site: www.sat.collegeboard.org/home, for more information regarding national testing dates. Also, make sure to visit the NAIA website regarding international athletic eligibility requirements at: www.playnaia.org/.
Step 4B: Proof of English Proficiency (TRANSFERS)
International students from non-English speaking countries who are transferring to KWU from a U.S.-based institution are not required to provide proof of English proficiency as outlined in step 4A. However, they must show on their transcripts that they have successfully completed English Composition I and English Composition II at a U.S.-based institution.
Duolingo – A minimum score of 95 is required for regular admission to the undergraduate program, and a score of 110 is required for admission to the M.B.A. program.
Step 5: Provide Copy of Passport
Provide a valid copy of your passport to the office of Admissions.

Please note that if you are not a U.S. citizen, you are considered an international student for purposes of admission, regardless of the location of your undergraduate education.

For Fall of 2024 international applicants, a $100 processing fee is to be paid at time of application. This fee is non-refundable, and application materials will not be processed without payment of this fee.

All U.S.-based transcripts must be sent as well, and an overall undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 Scale is required for graduate admission.
